Lenovo owned Motorola recently launched two Moto G series smartphones at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. The new Moto G series smartphones are Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are successor to Moto G4 Plus launched in last year. The Moto G5 Plus is the second G Plus smartphone under Lenovo company.
Design and Display
The Moto G5 Plus comes with Aluminum metal unibody design and replacing the textured rear panel with a smooth metallic finish. The finger print sensor embedded with physical home button at front of the device. The Moto G4 Plus comes with rounded metal frame coupled with the rubber back cover offers good ergonomics and grip. The finger print sensor at the front of the device it is not a physical home button but it uses to touch the sensor then screen Wake up. The Moto G5 Plus sports a 5.2 inch full HD(1920×1080 pixel)IPS LCD display with 424ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. TheMoto G4 Plus sports a 5.5 inch full HD(1920×1080 pixel) IPS display with 401ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Performance and Software
The Moto G5 Plus powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa core processor( 8 cortex A-53 are clocked at 2.0GHz) paired with Adreno 506 GPU and coupled with 3GB / 4GB RAM and 32GB /64GB inbuilt storage which can be further expanded via microSD card upto 128GB.
The Moto G4 Plus powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 Octa core processor ( 4 × Cortex A-53 clocked at 1.5GHz + 4 × Cortex A-53 clocked at 1.2GHz ) paired with Adreno 405 GPU and coupled with 2GB /3GB RAM and 16GB / 32GB inbuilt storage which can be further expanded via microSD card upto 128GB.
Moto G5 Plus runns on Android 7.0 Nougat Out of the box, which offers smooth Android experience and some Moto gesture features are available. The Moto G4 Plus runns on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box now the phone gets update to Android 7.0 Nougat via OTA update . Already the update is rolled out in india.
The Moto G5 Plus features a 12Mp rear camera with dual auto focusing pixel and f/1.7 aperture and a 5Mp front facing camera for selfies. The Moto G4 Plus comes with 16Mp rear camera with f/2.0 aperture with fast focusing capabilities thanks for laser auto focus . The Moto G4 Plus much impressed with camera quality in any light conditions.
Battery and Connectivity options
Both the devices packed by an 3000mAh non removable battery and thanks to minimal the bloatware , the Moto G4 Plus was able to deliver a day’s worth of moderate usage. There is no USB Type-C port for Moto G5 Plus ,still Lenovo has not chosen but it bundled with TurboPower charger offers six hours of battery with in 15 minutes over the USB v2.0 port. Both the smartphones has connectivity options include wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n , Bluetooth V4.2, GPS-GLONASS and 4G LTE and wifi Direct.
